Recertification Requirements

Prodigy maintains a state training plan for your state recertification requirements. Enter a valid state ems credential and a training plan will load.

Recertification Requirements

West Virginia follows the NREMT NCCP model for recertification. Even if you are state certified only, you will still follow the NREMT recertification plan. If you renew your NREMT, you will satisfy your West Virginia requirements.

In addition to maintaining National Registry certification, providers must show proof of completion of the following courses in the National Registry State Education Tracking System (S.E.T.S.). Providers will complete their SETS application once every four years, prior to their application for West Virginia EMT certification renewal. Haz Mat Awareness meeting OSHA 1910.120 or higher standards. (3 hours awarded and required annually), WVOEMS BLS protocol review. (2 hours awarded and required annually), MCI or Disaster Management related training to include mass casualty drills totaling a minimum of 2 hours biennially. (4 hours per WVOEMS Recertification), Successfully complete an approved CPR training/refresher course meeting WV §64 CSR 48-6.7.a.4. at the professional/healthcare provider level. (4 hours awarded every 2 years).

West Virginia accepts CAPCE accredited courses and directly accepts all Prodigy credit classes.

At this time Prodigy does not maintain a training plan for your state. This doesn't mean you can't use Prodigy for your recertification. All of our credit classes have CAPCE accreditation and most states accept CAPCE accredited classes. You can reach out to your agency training staff of state EMS officials to find out more about using CAPCE credit in your state.
